Black and White Drawing

For this project I drew a baby picture of myself. I was having a hard time trying to decide what to do for this project, as always, so my teacher Ms. Rojas gave me the idea to do a picture of myself in past, present, and future self. Unfortunately, I never got around to finishing it completely, but I do plan to finish the rest.

For this project, we had to take the phrase, "This is America" and build on it to what we think it means. When I thought of those three words, I thought of police brutality because that's all you hear about on the news, nowadays. Here, I painted a black girl that is crying about the crimes that are happening. I put in a quote from the book "THE HATE YOU GIVE" (great book by the way) which voices the problems with police brutality today.

prince

This is an abstract picture of my dog, Prince. I wanted to something that voiced his moods when I look at him around the house. The color red was used because he always is angry at a toy, since he can't tear it apart. The blue represents his sadness, because most of the time he seems very sad. The little settlements of purple represent the name Prince, because every time I think of that name, I think of the famous singer that passed.

This piece is based around the idea of the color wheel; we had to incorporate all the colors in the color wheel and the color wheel itself. It was really fun because I experienced mixing colors, and it turned out really good. I get a lot of compliments on the eye on the right because it looks so real.

jasmine inside of a eduoard manet painting

I put myself inside of a painting! This was basically the assignment, to put our head into a famous painting. I chose Eduoard Manet's painting because it seemed challenging and I just really like it.

black and white hand

We did this project at the beginning of the year where we had to draw an object in our hand. It only got a little difficult when we had to draw it on a 18x24 sheet of paper.

This was our VERY FIRST project of the year. Ms. Rojas gave us the option of picking whatever we wanted to draw, so took the liberty of drawing a shoe and words of "encouragement" around the shoe.

These are sketches for our school's RED WHITE AND BREW COFFEE SHOP.

painting of ella mai

This was a painting that I did over the summer of 2018 of Ella Mai, a singer. It took approximately 1 day for me to complete this, and it was very fun to do because of all the layers of paint and the challenge of painting it from a computer screen.

jas the superhero

For this assignment, we had to create a superhero and draw it out. It was somewhat challenging to come up with a character/ an idea, but I ended up doing myself as a superhero that saves my school from villains.

mixed media

Okay, so I know this isn't my best work. At all. But, this was a mixed media attempt. Some people asked why I used jellybeans, and there was really no reason why. I just was attracted to making a picture out of them. It was pretty fun, though.
